Eye Spy

I always say that for my 40th (or maybe 50th) birthday, I’m going to treat myself to some botox to diminish the look of crows feet around my eyes. I may actually need to start sooner but the thought of needles around my eyes kind of terrifies me.  To try and prevent a procedure like this, I started using eye cream.

YOWZERS!

If you haven’t used an eye cream before, good ones to try are targeted for dark circles, puffiness and hydration. Most will say that they are light, give hydration, reduce puffiness and lighten dark circles. A few good ones worth a try are Clinique All About Eyes Rich (for dry skin) or Gel (for oily skin). Clinique has expanded the All About Eyes line and has come out with All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage Roller. Estee Lauder has the Hydra Complete eye cream or the Idealist Eye Serum.

There are also creams and serums for preventative measures or the first signs of aging (which is about where I am). They are generally targeted as an anti-aging product.  These eye creams or serums are usually richer in texture and they claim to renew, firm and brighten the skin around the eyes. Right now I love Christian Dior R60/80 First Wrinkles Smoothing Eye Cream. My skin feels hydrated and I actually don’t see too many lines around my eyes. The skin around my eyes has definitely improved. Another one I like is the Murad Essential C Eye Cream which was very soothing and goes on very smooth.

There are so many choices now that it is very hard to pick just one. I will admit that I have had the opportunity to try a few different eye creams. They are generally more expensive than regular face cream so if it is not in your budget I do recommend hydrating the skin around your eyes. You can use your regular moisturizer (making sure you apply gently around the eye area), a vitamin E capsule, or for dark circles vitamin K. Drug stores also carry some great lines and products. If there is a moisturizer that you are currently using and like it, you might also like their eye products.

Some people will disagree that an eye cream is not necessary but I do notice a difference just from keeping that area hydrated. Then again I could always try not to laugh, smile, frown, or squint to save some $$$$$$.
