Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

2 Mar

In honour of Dr. Seuss’s birthday I had some green eggs and ham for breakfast. I also re-read Oh, The Places You’ll Go and realized this little gem really isn’t just for children. I haven’t read a Dr. Seuss book in years but I think this book has a profound statement to children and adults. This would be a great book for anyone at a crossroads, thinking of moving, finishing highschool, college, university, starting a new career or even in a slump. I don’t know why I picked this particular book to read this morning, but I’m glad I did. Almost made me cry (geesh, I’ve turned into such a sap). Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss and thanks for all the words of wisdom!

“You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)”

This is one of my very favourites. I have my own personal copy and Milana has her own too!

Wasn’t he rejected like a few hundred times before getting published because he was trying to sell the books to adults? And or something…
