One of my favourite things to do is check out live music. Whether it be at a local bar or a stadium, I love a good performance – even bad ones (if I’ve been drinking). If anyone lives in the Niagara/Buffalo area, on either sides of the border, the Town Ballroom in Buffalo, NY is a great venue for concerts. If you haven’t been there it is very intimate and has a cool vibe. Generally the bands are not as well-known as a lot of mainstream acts but worth checking out. We went to see Arkells this past Saturday with Hollerado and Wildlife opening for them. If you also don’t know Arkells music you should listen up. They have a great sound and are even better live. They were so much fun and energetic on stage, and nice enough to sign merchandise and take pictures with fans afterwards.
Venues like this are really great because the bands are more accessible to the fans and the environment is so much more chill. Say what you will about Buffalo, but I feel pretty fortunate that I live close enough to a city that has more to offer than most people think.
